Whether I’m picking out a new t-shirt with a hilarious cultural reference or grabbing a postcard to send to a friend, I know I’m getting a piece of my city’s soul with each purchase. And it’s not just about the products – the staff here are locals too, always ready with a smile and a recommendation for the best spots to check out. Dirty Coast isn’t just a store; it’s a love letter to our city.
Lunch – Joey K’s
This cozy spot is my go-to for a taste of homestyle Creole eats that never fail to hit the spot. Whether I’m craving a classic po’ boy packed with flavor or indulging in comforting Creole favorites, Joey K’s delivers every time. And let’s not forget those massive 18-ounce beers served in frosty mugs, adding an extra chill to the laid-back vibe.
Happy Hour – The Bower
Stepping into The Bower is like entering a culinary haven, where every dish is a masterpiece and every drink is crafted with care. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, inviting you to relax and indulge. And during happy hour, the energy is contagious, making every visit a celebration of good food, great drinks, and even better company.

Stepping into Miss Shirley’s Chinese Restaurant feels like a journey back to the heart of authentic Chinese cuisine, thanks to its roots in the esteemed Lee family of Metairie’s Royal China. It’s not just a local spot; it’s a culinary haven where dim sum takes the spotlight alongside beloved Chinese-American classics. As part of the community, I’m grateful for Miss Shirley’s, where the Lee family’s legacy of exceptional food lives on.

Lilette has recently been my newest elegant dining experience, offering sophisticated French fare and an extensive selection of wines. The ambiance, with its sunny, tiled space and inviting patio, attracts a stylish crowd, adding to the allure of the restaurant. Whether I’m indulging in classic French dishes or exploring new culinary delights, every visit to Lilette feels like a journey of refined taste and culinary excellence. It’s the perfect spot to elevate any occasion and indulge in the finer things in life.
Family Friendly – Reginelli’s
From the moment we walk in, the aroma of freshly baked pizzas fills the air, and I know we’re in for a treat. The hand-tossed pizzas are a favorite, but I also love exploring the diverse menu with seasonal salads, house-made focaccia sandwiches, and rich pastas. What sets Reginelli’s apart is their inventive combinations of New Orleans flavors – like the mouthwatering BBQ Shrimp Detroit Style Pizza. With over 25 years on the corner of State and Magazine Street, Reginelli’s has become a neighborhood institution. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, seven days a week, I can always count on Reginelli’s for The Perfect Pizza and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere to enjoy it in.

I love the convenience of being able to swing by the pizza window whenever the craving strikes. Whether I’m in need of a quick lunchtime slice or planning a cozy night in with a whole pie, St. Pizza has me covered. The aroma of freshly baked dough and bubbling cheese always draws me in, and the selection never disappoints. From classic favorites to creative specials, there’s always something tempting on offer.
