Things to Do with Kids on Magazine Street

New Orleans isn’t just for grownups and neither is Magazine Street. Of course the adults can enjoy a slew of shopping, dining and drinking opportunities (plus plenty of pampering after a long day), but there are just as many kid-friendly spots on Magazine Street. Taking the little ones to Magazine Street is actually one of the best things to do with kids in New Orleans! From kid-centric shops and spots for sweets to activities, classes, and plenty of colorful scenery, you can keep the kids entertained for hours while strolling the street.

Audubon Park: Spend a day in Audubon Park. Whether biking or walking, enjoy the magnificent oak trees, play on the playgrounds, and say hi to the ducks and swans.

The Bead Shop: Head to The Bead Shop where kids 7 and up can make their own beaded jewelry. Book a seat in the stringing room to make a beaded bracelet or necklace together.

New Orleans Glassworks & Printmaking Studio: At New Orleans Glassworks & Printmaking Studio, kids will be amazed watching glassblowing demos. If they’re inspired, kids ages 9 and up can sign up for glassblowing workshops as well as printmaking, metalwork, and ceramics.

Audubon Zoo: Visit the animals at the Audubon Zoo. Encounter animals from all over, including Asia, Africa, South America, and the Louisiana swamp. In the summer, there’s nothing cooler than the zoo’s Cool Zoo water park.

NOLA Boards: Stop by NOLA Boards on Saturday mornings at 9:30am for Children’s Storytime. Grownups can enjoy morning caffeine from Lower Coast Coffee while the kids can hear stories from the shop’s collection of local childrens’ books.

Reginelli’s Pizzeria: Hungry for lunch? A pizza tastes so much better when you make it yourself, and at Reginelli’s the kids can do just that. Order a make-your-own pizza and your little chef gets all the ingredients to build it the way they like. You can also pick up a MYO Pizza Kit to bring home.

New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts: Encourage their creativity with classes for kids—including summer fine arts camp—at New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts.

Lolo’s Youth Yoga, Fitness + Art Studio: Classes at Lolo’s Youth Yoga, Fitness + Art Studio, kids get a healthy dose of fitness, mindfulness, and fun. Lolo’s is a great place to host parties and events too!
